Gourmet Food Trucks (5)

Re: TNB
So, this Korean BBQ taco truck is pretty much a copy of Kogi and Calbi.  They are basically riding the Korean BBQ taco popularity.  There are other variants of of the taco truck phenomenon (if you can call it that) that uses other Asian cuisines for their own unique take on the ever popular taco.

Since I've had Kogi and Calbi in the past, I figured I should try this truck's pork tacos and burritos.  The spicy pork taco and spicy pork burrito was very typical.  The tacos was built almost exactly like Calbi's -- meat topped with lettuce and a bit of cheese on a green tortilla (instead of Calbi's wheat tortilla).  The burrito was built also almost like Calbi's too.  Both tasted similar to Calbi's.  Neither the taco nor the burrito made any sort of impression.  I suppose TNB is a decent alternative to Calbi/Kogi when the latter trucks have long lines.

They did have this "kimchi" option which other people in line seem to get.  Perhaps that option sets this truck apart from Calbi's?  That's something to try next time.

At first glance, I thought it was another Korean BBQ truck... like Kogi/Calbi/TNB.  Looking at the menu, its not.  Its a Chinese BBQ taco truck.  Like I do with all the other trucks, I tried the Al pastor pork taco and burrito.  I also tried their Chinese BBQ chicken taco as well too.

The pork taco and burrito were pretty good.  Their medium "salsa" was really a Chinese based sauce which added quite bit of flavor to the taco and burrito.  I think I liked the sauce more than the taco.  The pork was fairly typical texture and flavor from something prepared as Al pastor.  On the other hand, the Chinese BBQ chicken taco was very good.  It makes me wonder if there will be a Chinese BBQ pork (cha sui) option in the near future.

I would definitely try this again.
